Joy Unspeakable and Full of Glory: How Joy and Glory Farm Got Its Name

Six years ago, I was praying early one morning, asking the Lord why I felt so drawn to a certain property on Canyon Road. Clear as day, He answered: “Wedding venue.” I told my husband right away, and in that same moment he agreed. We checked the zoning, made an offer, and just a few days later the land was ours.

As we began dreaming about the venue, we needed a name. One afternoon while I was resting, the old hymn based on 1 Peter 1:8 came to mind—“Joy Unspeakable.” In that quiet moment the name was born: Joy and Glory Farm.

“Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory.”

—1 Peter 1:8

As we began all the ground work to build, one day as the crew dug the trench for the water main on the north side of the property, they unearthed an enormous boulder—exactly the “something special” we had been praying for to feature in the circle of the portico driveway. It measures roughly 6 by 8½ feet! Keith and the Puget Paving & Construction team graciously moved it into place for us. We call it our “God Rock” and love it! We were thrilled to have a special place to etch the name God gave us for our venue.

This project has been a walk of faith every step of the way. Now our “faith has become sight.” The building is nearing completion! Light fixtures are being hung, tile laid, cabinets installed, wallpaper going up, and beautiful reclaimed barn wood affixed on the walls —along with so many other finishing touches. We are rejoicing in God’s faithfulness and having the time of our lives watching it all come together. Thank you for walking this journey with us!
